Project Poster
The poster presents key project results from RENO-TITAN on the management of naturally occurring radioactive materials during the mining and processing of heavy mineral sands in Vietnam. It shows where radionuclides become concentrated during the mining and processing stages, and uses this to derive recommendations for radiation protection, environmental monitoring, and the use or storage of residues.

Naturally occurring radionuclides are widely distributed in the Earth’s crust. During the processing of associated valuable titanium minerals, they may become concentrated in the residues. Investigations of Portland cement and geopolymer matrices for the immobilisation of these materials from the mining and processing of titanium-bearing heavy mineral sands showed equivalent performance for both systems.
RENO-TITAN-App
The app provides digital access to analyses of mineral raw materials that contain titanium, zirconium and rare earth elements. It supports the interpretation of the RENO-TITAN results by clearly presenting raw material data, supply chain aspects and usage contexts.
